What little information I have on the American Peanut Corporation comes from the Web site of the Edwards-Freeman Nut Company. If I follow it correctly, the American Peanut Corp. formed in Suffolk, Virginia in 1899 to "process and distribute Virginia-grown peanuts." The Edwards-Freeman Nut Co. formed out of the APC (or as an offshoot of it) in 1930. I don't know if the American Peanut Corp. met its demise in 1930 or not. Nor is it mentioned when the company may have relocated to Norfolk, although I know it did. Information on the peanut industry during this period seems to be very scarce.
